Five Oaks Press is offering this space for reviews of books of any length in any genre (poetry, literary fiction, creative nonfiction).
- We welcome reviews of everything from poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and any literary genre in between. The only exclusion is that we do not publish reviews of books that were self-published.
- We don't care if you are friends with the poet, family members, or lovers. We don't subscribe to any need for "objective critical distance."
- We want the Live Oak Review to be an online space where we can communally celebrate, analyze, share, and educate each other about contemporary literary works. With that in mind, we're not looking for reviews that merely condemn a work or that take an overly critical approach. We also prefer reviews of books that were published in the last year.
- While we don't guarantee publication, if your review is well-written and crafted in the spirit of teaching us something about the beauty of an author's words, we'd love to read it.
Please submit your review (under 1,000 words) in a .doc, .docx, or .rtf format. We will ask for additional information about who published it (and the year of publication), as well as a short bio of the reviewer. Direct any questions to email@example.com.
